prajmetal I deemed this album my "2014 Saturday album" on my radio show - it was my most listened to album of that year. As the years passed and I played it at parties and sent links and raved about it in general, it has grown to be my most listened to album EVER. Dare I say this is my favorite metal album of all time? Yes. This is an eclectic album ranging from brutal to psychedelic to jazz. It only grows in value as the years pass. Favorite track: Zeta II Reticuli.

TypeSaucy The drumming in this album will make you dizzy thinking about it. The amount of skill put into each of these tracks astounds me with every listen, and it doesn't even take away from the atmosphere it sets to its listeners.
The biggest example of this is the popular Al-Malik, showing off both intense skill in instrumentals and instilling dread through later segments. Afterwards you are hit with connecting tracks that add so much to the soundscape this LP conveys.
A solid prog. black metal album. Favorite track: Al-Malik.

Stefano Giordano I am a huge King Crimson fan, thus, I loved the band's KC-esque sound and approach to song composition

Wez Barber Intense, beautifully complex, constantly shifting, brain food Favorite track: Al-Malik.

cassandraleo This is truly demented, next-level progressive metal that sounds like nothing else currently being recorded. This album has an absurdly effective atmosphere; it's one of the few examples I've heard of a release that blends the bizarre Zeuhl style of Magma with extreme metal. Nothing else sounds like this album, and it's one of the highlights of 2014. Favorite track: Al-Malik.

about

"...chaotically technical, full of prime meters, strange pitch collections, battering drumming, and bursts of singing. F*#ck [this is] good."- The Inarguable

Chicago's MURMUR has reemerged an altogether different beast than the one that spawned 2010's morose `Mainlining the Lugubrious'. On their new album 'Murmur' the band, led by guitarist/vocalist Matthias Vogels, craft an album as distinct and progressive as anything to ever come from the US heavy-rock underground. The music is angular and propulsive; flexing fluid time and meter changes as they build to dizzying crescendos, before collapsing into moments of fragile subtlety. 'Murmur' spans the spectrum from primal to provocative, and is the crossroad were a wild pastiche of influences (black metal, experimental jazz, midwest punk and noise rock, and more) meet.
`Murmur' is one of the most innovative, groundbreaking albums ever to be spawned from the modern black metal scene.
